Thymosin Alpha-1
Thymalfasin
Thymosin Alpha-1 (Thymalfasin) Research Protocol
Quickstart Overview
Thymosin Alpha-1 is a 28-amino-acid thymic peptide (marketed as thymalfasin) approved in many countries as an immune modulator. It is studied for enhancing T-cell responses in infection, immune senescence and as an adjuvant in vaccination and cancer immunotherapy.

Dosing & Reconstitution Guide
Units assume a U-100 insulin syringe (100 units = 1 mL). The clinical dose is 1.6 mg twice weekly; very well tolerated.
Reconstitution Steps
- 1Allow the lyophilized vial and bacteriostatic water to reach room temperature (~15 min).
- 2Swab both vial stoppers with a fresh 70% isopropyl alcohol pad and let them dry.
- 3Draw 2.0 mL of bacteriostatic water into a mixing syringe.
- 4Insert at an angle and let the water run slowly down the glass wall — never directly onto the powder.
- 5Gently swirl (do not shake) until the solution is completely clear.
- 6Label with date and concentration (mg/mL) and refrigerate at 2–8 °C immediately.
Supplies Needed
Planning example for a 8-week protocol at approximately 1600 mcg per day.

Important Notes
- Well tolerated; use caution in autoimmune contexts where immune stimulation is undesired.
- Among the most clinically validated peptides in the catalog.
How This Works
Thymosin Alpha-1 modulates both innate and adaptive immunity, primarily by promoting maturation and differentiation of T-cells via Toll-like-receptor signalling (notably TLR9/TLR2) on dendritic cells. It increases Th1 cytokines, enhances antigen presentation and natural-killer activity, and helps restore immune balance in states of immunosuppression or chronic infection. It is used clinically for hepatitis B/C and as an immune adjuvant.
Potential Benefits & Side Effects
- Enhanced T-cell maturation and Th1 immune response
- Improved antigen presentation and NK-cell activity
- Clinical use in chronic hepatitis and as a vaccine adjuvant
- Restoration of immune balance in immunosuppression
- Injection-site reactions (common, mild)
- Transient fatigue
- Generally very well tolerated
- Theoretical caution in autoimmune conditions
Lifestyle Factors
- Adequate hydration and 7–9 h of sleep are standard controls in most research protocols.
- Consistent dose timing improves the reliability of any self-tracked endpoints.
- Maintain a clean, sterile workflow for every draw to avoid contamination.
Injection Technique
- 1Wash hands, then prep the vial top and the target site with separate alcohol swabs.
- 2Pinch a subcutaneous skin fold (abdomen, ~2 inches from the navel) and insert at 45–90°.
- 3Depress the plunger slowly over 3–5 seconds, hold 5 seconds, then withdraw.
- 4Rotate sites each administration and dispose of the syringe in a sharps container.
