Sermorelin
GHRH (1-29)
Sermorelin Research Protocol & Dosing Reference
Quickstart Overview
Sermorelin is the 1–29 amino-acid fragment of growth-hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) — the shortest sequence that retains full GHRH activity. It stimulates the pituitary to release growth hormone in a natural, pulsatile manner and preserves the body's own feedback control.

Dosing & Reconstitution Guide
Units assume a U-100 insulin syringe (100 units = 1 mL). Fasted pre-bed dosing aligns with the largest endogenous GH pulse.
Reconstitution Steps
- 1Allow the lyophilized vial and bacteriostatic water to reach room temperature (~15 min).
- 2Swab both vial stoppers with a fresh 70% isopropyl alcohol pad and let them dry.
- 3Draw 2.0 mL of bacteriostatic water into a mixing syringe.
- 4Insert at an angle and let the water run slowly down the glass wall — never directly onto the powder.
- 5Gently swirl (do not shake) until the solution is completely clear.
- 6Label with date and concentration (mg/mL) and refrigerate at 2–8 °C immediately.
Supplies Needed
Planning example for a 16-week protocol at approximately 200 mcg per day.

Important Notes
- Preserves pituitary feedback — a key safety distinction from exogenous GH.
- Fasted timing is important for an effective GH pulse.
- Monitor IGF-1 in longer protocols.
How This Works
Sermorelin binds GHRH receptors on pituitary somatotrophs, raising cAMP and triggering synthesis and pulsatile release of growth hormone. Because the pituitary remains subject to somatostatin feedback, GH is released physiologically rather than continuously, reducing the risk of excessive levels. The downstream GH pulse raises IGF-1 and supports body composition, recovery and sleep architecture.
Potential Benefits & Side Effects
- Stimulated endogenous, pulsatile GH release
- Increased IGF-1 within physiological ranges
- Improved sleep quality and recovery markers
- Preserved natural feedback regulation vs exogenous GH
- Supports lean mass and reduced fat mass in studies
- Injection-site redness, swelling or itching
- Flushing or head-rush post-dose
- Headache or dizziness
- Rarely altered taste
Lifestyle Factors
- Adequate hydration and 7–9 h of sleep are standard controls in most research protocols.
- Consistent dose timing improves the reliability of any self-tracked endpoints.
- Maintain a clean, sterile workflow for every draw to avoid contamination.
Injection Technique
- 1Wash hands, then prep the vial top and the target site with separate alcohol swabs.
- 2Pinch a subcutaneous skin fold (abdomen, ~2 inches from the navel) and insert at 45–90°.
- 3Depress the plunger slowly over 3–5 seconds, hold 5 seconds, then withdraw.
- 4Rotate sites each administration and dispose of the syringe in a sharps container.
