Quickstart Overview

BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide derived from a protective protein found in human gastric juice. It is one of the most studied compounds in preclinical tissue-repair research, with models spanning tendon, ligament, muscle, gut lining and vascular healing.

Units assume a U-100 insulin syringe (100 units = 1 mL). Reconstituted BPC-157 is stable 4–6 weeks refrigerated. Draw along the glass wall; never shake.

Frequency: Once to twice daily

Reconstitution Steps

  1. 1Allow the lyophilized vial and bacteriostatic water to reach room temperature (≈ 15 min).
  2. 2Swab both vial stoppers with a fresh 70% isopropyl alcohol pad.
  3. 3Draw the chosen volume of bacteriostatic water into a mixing syringe.
  4. 4Insert at an angle and let water run slowly down the glass wall — never directly onto the powder.
  5. 5Gently swirl (do not shake) until the solution is fully clear.
  6. 6Label with date, concentration (mg/mL) and refrigerate at 2–8 °C immediately.

Daily administration for 4–8 weeks, optional extension to 12 weeks in chronic models.
Dose Range
200–500 mcg/day, often split AM/PM.
Reconstitution
Dilute to 5 mg/mL for measurement convenience; adjust for smaller vials.

Dosing Protocol

Start
200–250 mcg once daily for the first 3–5 days
Increase
To 250 mcg twice daily if well tolerated
Target Range
400–500 mcg total per day
Frequency
1–2× daily, approximately 12 hours apart
Cycle Length
4–8 weeks on, equal duration off
Timing
Consistent timing; often administered on an empty stomach in gut-model studies

Storage Instructions

Lyophilized
−20 °C long term (24+ months); stable at room temperature for short transit
Reconstituted
2–8 °C refrigerated, use within 4–6 weeks
Light
Protect from direct light; keep in original carton
Freeze/Thaw
Avoid repeat freeze–thaw cycles after reconstitution

Important Notes

  • Use a fresh sterile syringe for every draw; never re-enter the vial with a used needle.
  • Rotate administration sites to reduce local irritation.
  • Inject slowly and avoid heavily scarred or inflamed tissue.
  • Allow the alcohol swab to dry fully before puncture to minimise stinging.
  • Human clinical evidence remains limited; the vast majority of data is from rodent models.

How This Works

BPC-157 is a stable gastric pentadecapeptide (sequence GEPPPGKPADDAGLV) that is unusually resistant to enzymatic degradation. In preclinical models it has been shown to up-regulate growth hormone receptor expression in tendon fibroblasts, activate the FAK–paxillin pathway involved in cell migration, modulate nitric-oxide (NO) signalling, and promote angiogenesis via VEGFR2. These mechanisms collectively support its reported effects on tendon-to-bone healing, ligament repair, gastric ulcer protection and counteraction of NSAID-induced lesions. Interaction with the dopaminergic and serotonergic systems has also been documented.

Potential Benefits & Side Effects

Reported in research
  • Accelerated tendon, ligament and muscle healing in rodent injury models
  • Protection of gastric and intestinal mucosa against NSAID and alcohol damage
  • Enhanced angiogenesis and blood-vessel recruitment to injured tissue
  • Anti-inflammatory effects via cytokine modulation
  • Neuroprotective and vascular stabilising activity reported in CNS models
Possible considerations
  • Mild transient injection-site redness or stinging
  • Nausea or light-headedness in a minority of reports
  • Long-term human safety data is lacking
  • Theoretical concern with pre-existing growth-factor-dependent pathologies

Lifestyle Factors

  • Protein intake ≥ 1.6 g/kg/day supports the collagen-synthesis pathways under study
  • Adequate hydration and 7–9 h sleep are standard controls in recovery research
  • Progressive loading of healing tissue appears synergistic in tendon models
  • Avoid NSAIDs where possible unless the protocol is specifically studying NSAID protection

Injection Technique

  1. 1Wash hands, then prep vial top and target site with separate swabs.
  2. 2Pinch a skin fold (abdomen, 2 inches from the navel, or near the injury) and insert at 45–90°.
  3. 3Depress plunger slowly over 3–5 seconds, hold 5 seconds, withdraw.
  4. 4Dispose of the syringe immediately into a sharps container.
